What steps do I need to take in order to start getting paid to play golf?

I am a 2 handicap and know that although I am probably not “tour” ready, I consistently shoot under par and am just curious as to where I go from here? My goal is to play professionally.

Suggest you read the book by John Feinstein -”Q School – Golf’s Fifth Major”. It talks about real life stories of trying to make it as a pro golfer today. Great read and might help you on your journey.

    Good luck.

I don’t wish to be a wet blanket, but frankly, a 2 handicap is no where near low enough to play even the challenge, let alone the main tour. Seve once said that you needed to be plus six to play the tour and I believe that is now a minimum. Why not play in high ranked amateur events such as the Lytham Trophy, getting the feel of the intense competition before trying the Pro route. As one of the other responses has said, see if you can get some sponsorship but I wouldn’t invest in anyone unless he was below scatch. A friend of mine has a son who shoots 68-69 quite regularly and he is off 4 but the pro set ups are a different matter altogether. That said, good luck to you.

Golfer.. To suggest that you would like to get paid to play golf suggests that you would like to make it your job. Then you should do just that starting to-day start to work at it 8 hours a day and 6 days a week. You deserve a day off every once in awhile. Think this is a bit much? well that’s what the guys that are getting paid are doing and probably more. You obviously have some talent but there are lots that do and lots that would like to be paid to play but you have to WANT it and be prepared to sacrifice everything to get it. It’s not easy but those that get there have a great life. Good luck for a successful future
