Vacation-groups for disabled for Disneyland & similar destinations?

Posted: April 8th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Travel For Disabled | Tags: , , , , | 2 Comments »

Would like to know if there are any agencies or “department within” theme parks (tourism related) that would cater to the disabled consumer? Because of special needs (flight, ground-travel, room & board and such), it would be close to a nightmare to try and figure out the details needed to make sure that the trip would be as comfortable and economical as possible…

Do you have experience with this? Suggestions?

PS – hubby wheelchair dependent

Not expecting any break in co$ts…just assistance in getting around to facilities that are more hospitable to the handicapped (bathrooms, hallways, entrances/exits, transportation btwn areas of interest….)

i heard that disneyland allows wheelchair people to get ahead in lines so they do not have to wait.
As to expense wise they give no breaks in $$$$$

Disney does offer a Guest Assistance Card at City Hall. This card, when presented to cast members, alerts them to the particular needs of the guest; whether the guest can wait in a long line, needs assistance getting into or out of a ride vehicle, etc. Some attractions (Finding Nemo Subs, Castle Walkthrough) now offer a wheelchair accessible alternative experience. All of California Adventure is wheelchair accessible, although some attractions do require a transfer into the ride vehicle. More info at the link
