My work is not paying me final paycheck and my former supervisor is not returning my phone calls. what do I do

To make a long story short, I was working when we got robbed. I was the only person behind the teller line when one man ran right at me and the other came and pointed the gun at me. I tried to come back but it proved too scary. I quit and I got a paycheck in the mail for 0.00. Even though I had worked and also earned vacation time. Human resources had no answers for me and I called my former supervisor who has not returned my call! I am very angry, after what I went through I thought they would be a little nicer about things. But now I am forced to fight and make several calls to try to get the money that I earned? I am also emotionally handicapped because it’s hard for me to find another job where I can actually feel safe, I had a gun pointed to my head and all I wanted was my final paycheck! I have been trying to find an attorney, but does anybody have any suggestions?

Report him to the “Better Business Bureau”

Sue the brakes off of them. You can get emotional distress, lost pay, the pay you are asking for, and court costs.

Call the Attorney General in your area and ask for help. They will probably speak to your employer and get it taken care of.

Call the labor board..withholding someones pay or taking it is illegal.
Otherwise you could crawl under his car and cut the brake lines.

Is the amount of money they owe you worth fighting over? If it’s your rent money, then hell yeah, I’d be harassing them until they did something. Call the police.

I doubt an atty would want to get involved, no money in it, unless you want to pay their hourly, then it will cost you more than the paycheck.

Your state has a labor department of some sort. You’ll need to file a complaint with them. You may be awarded a penalty ( here it is treble damages) if they violated the labor laws.

Get an attorney, asap. If you want to sue for damages (related to the robbery). Contact the labor board, BBB, whoever you can. Do all correspondence with your former employer in written form and keep a copy for yourself. Send a letter telling them that you are hiring an attorney, due to their failure to respond to your request for the pay that is due to you. Tell them that you are sorry that it has come to this, as you have tried to deal with this in a reasonable fashion.
    Good luck.
