you never know when you’ll make breaks.. i say if you want to do it though you have to pick a path and stay dedicated.. because some could say.. there’s 14 year olds who can compete in pro events basically.. but there’s also the mike weirs who didn’t start till they were 18 and won a major

Sure you do. Like they say, practice, practice, practice. You need to be a scratch golfer, enter a lot of golf tournaments in school. Also, when you think you’re good enough for the tour (PGA), you’ll need some good financial backing to start with.

There is a rule of thumb.
Everytime you tee up at your home course you have to shoot at least -7.
Even then you have a very slim chance to make it as a pro.
Most of the guys on tour were scratch golfers by the time they were 12 years old.
If you can consistently shoot in the low to mid 60s you got a chance.
I know guys that are 16 and have handicaps of +4 and +5. They got completely destroyed in pro tournaments and quit.
There is a HUGE gap between playing as an amateur and playing as a pro that competes with the best of the best from all around the world.
However handicap 7 is pretty good at 14. Practice, practice and practice. Nothing is impossible. I just wanted to tell you what you are up against if you seriously want to try to make it.
Good luck!

a chance yes. It all depends on your work ethic. hours of practice and lessons is all it will take. However, it takes personal dedication to your goal.

Get involved in some local tournaments and see how you do. Remember that old adage that “Practice makes Perfect” is not true or my favorite VJ Singh would be number one instead of Tiger. Good luck to you.

It has nothing to do with what age you are or what handicap you play off to say wether you’ll make it on tour or not. You have plenty of years ahead of you and anything could happen, you may turn pro in four years, you may take ten years. It’s how you chose to improve your golf, mental and physical side of golf. Good Luck.
