I am going on vacation to Florida. I would like to know if I am able to use my California DMV handicapped placard while there.

Thank you.

You should be able to but check with the local PD in the area of FL you are going to visit.

Handicapped placards (as I’m sure you know) is basically a prescription from a Doctor and should be valid anywhere.

    Have a great trip!

As far as I know, as long as your placard is registered and valid (not past an expiration date) with your state, you should be able to use it in all 50 states of the U.S. If you are unsure, go to Florida’s Department of Transportation website: http://www.dot.state.fl.us/ If you are moving to Florida, then you will have to reapply for a permit. When going on vacation, however, you are not required to do so. Hotels and private properties, however, may require additional fees or permits–so be sure to check before you park in a handicapped accessible parking space.

I lost my purse and when it was returned to me my blue handicapped placard was missing. I have had recent spinal surgery and really need it.
