Just because you have a disability does not mean you should not enjoy a full and happy vacation. Even if you are in a wheel chair you can still have the same holiday experiences as other people do. Some locations will be far more suited to you than others. You can enjoy accessible travel to New York without having too many concerns. It is a city that caters to people of all walks of life.

It is for good reason that New York is one of the most famous and exciting cities in the world. You can find an almost unlimited number of interesting attractions to keep you occupied at any time of year. Of course most visitors will choose to visit the city during the summer months. Millions of tourists come to appreciate the sights and sounds of the Big Apple when the days are long. At this time of year the city comes alive; there is an almost electric atmosphere.

There is a range of accommodation available in New York that is suitable for any traveller no matter what their ability or handicap. In the summer it makes sense to book ahead as the best rooms can easily get reserved many months ahead.

You can use the internet to find a hotel that provides the type of access you require. Make sure that if you have problems with your mobility that the hotel you book has provided for the situation. The bathroom should have been designed so that it can still be used independently.

Thankfully New York has implemented rules governing disabled access. You can still visit the most famous sights such as the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty without too much difficulty. Even the public transport system can be used without a headache; of course it will get rather crowded during rush hour.

Under the American’s with Disabilities act it is actually against the law to restrict access to public buildings to people who are differently-abled. This means that all galleries and museums in New York will are within reach of any individual no matter what the extent of their mobility.

Remember to keep in mind the airport at which you will arrive. New York is served by three different airports. There is La Guardia, JFK, and Newark. When booking a hotel find out whether they offer a free pick up and if so from which airport.
