Ectopic pregnancy confirmed. Advice?
Posted: October 4th, 2011 | Author: admin | Filed under: Travel For Disabled | Tags: advice, confirmed., Ectopic, pregnancy | 5 Comments »My doctor is going to give me a shot of metatexate? tomorrow to dissolve my pregnancy. I’ve never had a tubal or a miscarriage before. Can anyone tell me what to expect? My HCG levels were 166 then 183. How long until I quit bleeding? I just don’t know what to expect except for pain. I leave for a vacation with just myself, my handicapped brother and my 5 year old daughter in 2 weeks. My husband thinks I shouldn’t go.
I don’t know how the bleeding last but I want to say I’m sorry for what youre going through. If you get answer saying that bleeding should subside maybe a vacation will do you some good at a time like this. Take care.
most like just a week, as if ur were having ur period
First of all, I am so sorry your going thru this! Everyone is different so I will just say that your lucky they found it early! I was bleeding like crazy and very heavy for three days and then it stopped. The hospital told me I was “still preggo” cause my hcg was normal. They sent me home, then the pain started it was really bad. I ended up having to go by ambulance to the ER and had emergency surgery cause it was ectopic but on my Ovary, it had ruptured and I was bleeding in my abdomen.
I took about 6 weeks to recover (from surgery) emotionally still working on it! If I were you I would not travel, because there have been plenty of case were they give the methotrexate and it doesnt work and then you need surgery as well. You dont want to go unless the hcg goes to zero…infact they are going to require you to get blood work every two days till it does zero out…so you prolly would be told not to go?
Sorry this was so long, i will keep you in my prayers!!!
I suggest postponing the vacation. While I have not had an ectopic pregnancy, I have had two miscarriages and it took me almost a month to recover. You will likely have cramping and bleeding and be so exhausted you won’t want to move. Rest is essential and you will need people taking care of you for awhile to help you through this, physically and emotionally. This is not a good time to be by yourself, and certainly not in a position of having to take care of others, as it sounds like you would have to on t hat vacation. I am so sorry you are having to go through this. Just take it easy and rest as much as you can. Your doctor may give you painkillers if the cramping is very bad. I had a friend who took the methotrexate and she had to stay at home with others caring for her for several days. Rethink the vacation and get as much rest as possible. Feel free to contact me if you need to talk to someone whose been in a similar situation. Best of luck to you.
I had to do methotrexate for the same thing. They do have to monitor your levels, to make sure that your HCG drops below 5. I had to do blood tests every 2-3 days for about 2 weeks. (I was up around 700) If it does not, then they will need to give you another shot.
I had my period for maybe 10 days or so…it’s been a while so I can’t remember for sure. It was crampy, but I don’t remember it being overly bad.
If you can put off the vacation, I would. It will not be a good time for you to be gone now, from a medical standpoint and an emotional one.
I am sorry for your loss.
