What vans are suitable for handicapped conversions?

I want to buy a van that is suitable to carry an Invacare chair. I will need a ramp and hopefully can use the chair as the driver’s seat. Need to keep the costs down, but would like a fairly new vehicle. Is it better to get one already converted or buy new and have it converted?

i know a person who has a Dodge Caravan that has been converted… the drivers seat swivels around to the back of the van where her motorized chair is… and the van is on a hydrolic system to lower it to the ground and a ramp comes out the right side sliding door.

Any van will do and ramps are old school…..Now it’s power lifts….If you find a good mechanical engineer like my self, you can do anything with any van

Almost any FWD minivan will do if you want rear entry, such as most taxis nowadays.

Cheapest way into it is to buy an ex-taxi w/ wheelchair ramp already.

FWD because the cabin can be completely cut up for the ramp.

If you want side entry then you’ll have to install all sorts of hydraulics, and costs will go up.
