Is it illegal to use a decal with wheel chair emblem, if not being used for parking purposes?

I drive a full size van and have five small children for passengers. Every time (and I mean every time) I park, someone blocks my side entry doors so that I can not get the children back in the van. I finally broke down and bought a decal, that says to please stay clear of side access doors, but it was actually made for handicap vans and passengers and so there is a universal wheel chair picture on it. I can cut the picture off of it, but frankly feel it would be more effective if left on. I hate to have to go to these measures, but this is such a problem. People are just so inconsiderate of others. How would people feel if I parked so close to their cars that they couldn’t get into the driver’s side of their car?

that’s just a problem you have to face being a driver. But to use a handicap sign and your not handicap is immoral.

In my opinion and i am 100% disabled, as long as you don’t park in the handicapped parking spaces ……NO

I understand the dilemma, but please remember that you are the one who chose the enormous vehicle.

Park the van farther away where there are less vehicles and people in other vehicles are less likely to block you. Also, don’t park in spaces labeled compact. Many spaces may not be labeled, but they are intended for compact cars (and you can generally tell by the size).

If you park a van in a space designated compact car with a van and you get blocked in, then the only fault is yours for parking there.

Vans are big, yes.. but you have to be aware of that size when you park. Putting stickers up isn’t going to help. It may make people want to park even closer to you. Simply park in bigger spaces or in less dense areas where there are less cars around.

That’s the best I can offer.
