This is a trip that I took with my sister to Bosnia and Herzegovina in April, 2008. We rented a car in Sarajevo, and drove through several countries (including Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Macedonia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, and Serbia). We had connecting flights in Germany and Slovenia…and spent a bit of time in these countries as well. My original plans were to visit Argentina, but I couldn’t get there and back on my US Airways frequent flier miles. After many, MANY hours on the phone with the US Air Gold Desk, I finally asked, “Well, where on Earth CAN I go with my miles?” The answer: Bosnia and Herzegovina. So, we packed our bags and headed to Sarajevo! Is it crazy to go to Bosnia for vacation? Well, most of our friends and family thought so. I tell you what, though. I’d go back there in a heartbeat! It was inexpensive, the food was fantastic, and the people are very warm and generous. Hopefully, after watching the video, you’ll agree that the Balkan countries make for a great vacation destination! As always, PLEASE leave comments! It took hours and ?&! hours to put this video together. I want to know what you think!
Tour the Destin Harbor! Click “Show More!” The HarborWalk Village on the Destin Harbor is a N FL Hidden Jewel! Long ago In 1839 while sailing in the Gulf of Mexico an expedition of three ships were hit by a hurrican near Cape Canaveral. One ship managed to safely reach shore. The sea battered expedition lead by Leonard Destin arrived on Florida’s Northwest coast in search of supplies and new opportunities. Leonard began to offer jobs to young men who came to the area looking for work during the fishing season. Some of the fisherman were so taken by the Destin area that they stayed and made Destin their permanent home. Many of the boats used by the local fishermen were built at Destin’s East Pass. Leonard Destin and his young anglers would regularly run their small boats a short distance from shore and cast their nets, fishing all day. The day’s bounty was then transported to Pensacola and sold at the local market. Leonard Destin became known at Destin’s Founding Father. The oldest seine boat in existence, the Primrose, is currently displayed at the Destin History and Fishing Museum located at 108 Stahlmlan Avenue in Destin (850-837-6611 for more info). Destin is no longer a small fishing village. In 1984, the city of Destin was organized into a municipality. Through the years visitors to Destin have spread the word about their vacation paradise to friends and family. Folks tend to return year after year and their grown children come back with their children. What brings …
