We also see the same trends, from some individuals wishing to come back to their favourite resort to travelers who want to try something exciting and new ( to them ). Another maybe plain trend is the rise in accessing the Net. Again, this varies from looking for more info on a summer holiday spot to using online travel and Vacations services to make precise holiday bookings. Definitely , for some kinds of summer holiday this may be advantageous because of the online kickbacks that may be available. Hence when talking about booking a summer holiday, what are the booking options to consider? I know this is going to sound ‘stupid’ but before making summer holiday reservations, you will need to choose the tangible summer vacation spot. Without a destination under consideration, it is not possible to make any bookings. When choosing a summer vacation what are the crucial factors we want to keep in mind? Whenever it’s possible, I really like to encourage folk to think about their summer holiday as starting from the minute they leave their home to the minute they return and, in doing hence consider… * traveling with youngsters * the age of the youngsters * traveling with old age pensioners * traveling with disabled family members * likes and dislikes * comprehensive desires and ‘nice to haves’ * total price of travel * the seven out of ten principle The 7 out of ten principle basically means that if we will not match 100 pc of our wants to a summer holiday choice, the more ‘boxes’ we tick, the bigger the likelihood that we are able to decide on the summer holiday destination that will most closely fit your wishes, so making sure we will have the best summer holiday achievable. Now, we are able to think about tangible bookings and reservations. I suspect the one possibility is to not to order anything in any way. Exciting and fun – perhaps. Yes, there are parks, motels, hostels, camping sites where it’s not always critical to book ahead. It’s now time to start gearing up for that much-deserved summer vacation. The kids will soon be out of school, and it’s really beginning to look like summer. The economy is poor, and for some of us, money is tight. However, we still want to and need to go. Here are several tips on how to have a well-planned, stress free and enjoyable family summer vacation whether you have full resources or you’re traveling on a budget.

Make Early Plans
To get the best deals on lodging, rentals and air fare, plan your trip early. Check out websites that reward early bookings (e.g. quickbook.com) to avoid missed opportunities. Planning your trip at least 3 months ahead would be ideal. According to Michael Sarka, executive director of the Vacation Rental and Management Association, “families looking for rental properties really need to get on the ball… and book earlyâ€.

Packing for your vacation
 Whether traveling by plane, car, train, bus or recreational vehicle, pack enough, but not too much. Make a really good list of everything you’ll really need.
From clothes to toiletries and medication, lay everything out on the bed and check off the list. You’ll have a record if your luggage is lost or stolen. Don’t forget a sweater for cool nights and an umbrella for rain. To avoid packing too much, pack clothes that can be used for several purposes and that can be coordinated. Pack black, brown or white clothes with colorful scarves and colorful costume jewelry. To avoid wrinkled clothes, fold cloths softly and pack in “pack-it†folders (e.g.  www.eaglecreek.com). Pack “wrinkle release†by Downey, used for spraying away wrinkles. Pack plenty of sunscreen, sun hats and sunglasses. In case of a sun burn, pack “Solarcaine Burn Relief Gel†or Solarcaine Medicated Spray for pain relief. Don’t forget the camera, camera batteries and memory card. If traveling by car, have jumper cables, flares, a first aid kit, a flashlight with new batteries and a cell phone handy. Also carry bottled water and nutrious snacks. For air travel, carry a small travel case with face cream, make up, aspirin, lip balm, eye mask and ear plugs. Always bring a snack.

Have a written plan outling the intended route, stops and destination. Leave copies of the plan along with a description of your vehicle and its license plate with family or friends. Refill the gas tank when it’s half full in case there’s a problem finding a service station on the roads. Don’t let thieves steal your vehicle. As suggested by Dorothy Yamich in an article published in 111Travel Directory: triple 1.com. Keep your registration on your person at all times to prevent identity thief. When parking, close and lock all doors, even if for a short time. At no time leave the vehicle idling or leave the keys in the car. Don’t leave valuables in the car. If you have no choice, lock them in the trunk when no one is watching. When parking in public areas turn the wheels to the right or left and engage the emergency brake to lessen the chance of theft. Park in an attendant controlled lot, in a well lit area, with pedestrian traffic. Never park next to an obstruction (fence, hedge, anything large) that blocks a clear view of the vehicle. If entering a gated secure parking area, make sure the gate is closed behind you to prevent someone from entering after you. Look into anti-theft devices- steering wheel locks, break locks, pedal locks, hood locks. The best protection is a passive electronic immobilizer that disables the motor when the ignition is off. Make sure to have adequate insurance that covers theft and damage. Finally call the police if you see suspicious activity. Check tires for wear and pressure, even the spare. Check the refrigerant, coolant and batteries and replace dirty oil.

Try vacation rentals. You can get an entire house and great discounts. When driving, stop for picnics instead of eating out. Take advantage of continental breakfasts. Avoid pricy gift shops. Find natural gifts, such as sea shells. When traveling with children, watch for signs that say “kids eat freeâ€. Vacation close to home to save on gas and airfare. Consider a camping trip, such as to a National park. Avoid vacationing at peak times (end of July to middle of August) for better pricing.

The Bridge Center, a non-profit (501)(c)( 3) recreation center that serves children with developmental, physical and emotional disabilities, recently announced its new portfolio of camp programs for Summer 2010. Camp is offered to children and adolescents aged 4-22.
That new portfolio includes:
Camp Connect- Designed for children and teens with Asperger’s Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, and related challenges, Camp Connect offers programming and supports designed to support social skills and thinking development and practice. Camp Connect offers three- and six-week sessions with 2:6 counselor:camper ratios. First , six-week session begins Monday, June 28 and ends August 6; second Lite session (three weeks) begins August 9 and ends August 27.
Camp Summit - Designed for campers who struggle with behavioral control and benefit from significant behavioral supports and structures, Camp Summit provides an environment focused on success using a behavioral level system for the whole camp and individualized behavior plans as appropriate. Camp Summit offers one- and three-week sessions with 2:6 counselor:camper ratios. First weeklong session begins June 28. The more intensive Summit session lasts three weeks and runs August 9 through August 27.
Camp Endeavor - Designed for campers with learning, intellectual, and developmental disabilities who benefit from intermittent or limited support, Camp Endeavor helps campers try new activities, meet new people, and feel successful. Camp Endeavor offers one-week sessions throughout the summer with 1:3 or 1:2 counselor:camper ratios in order to assure that every camper has the appropriate accommodations so they may fully participate in all activities. One-week sessions start June 28 through week of August 23.
Camp Discovery - Designed for campers with intellectual and developmental disabilities who benefit from extensive or pervasive support, Camp Discovery provides campers full access to all activities with its 1:1 or 1:2 counselor:campers ratios that assure appropriate modifications are in place throughout camp. Camp Discovery staff support campers with ADLs (activities of daily living) as needed and offers one1-week sessions throughout the summer. One-week sessions start June 28 through week of August 23.
Horse Camp – Designed for campers aged 8+ who love horses, Horse Camp offers riding center activities every morning, including one mounted riding lesson each day. In the afternoons, campers join Camp Endeavor and participate in a variety of camp activities. We offer four 1-week sessions of Horse Camp during the summer, typically with 1:3 counselor:camper ratios. Sessions take place the weeks of: July 6, July 19, August 2 and August 16.
“Structured recreational activities are key ingredients for children’s social, emotional and physical development,” said Jennifer Harber, executive director of The Bridge Center. “Our specialized camps offer children maximum opportunities to grow from their summer experiences.”
