should cars give way to pedestrians or should pedestrians give way to cars?

i am not talking about what the law in your area says. what do you think is the correct way?

should a 1500kg car (3000lb) travelling at 60km/h (35mph)have to stop for a 60kg (120lb) person travelling at 1m/s. how much energy does it take to stop the car?

KE = 1/2 m*v^2, which for a car of the average figures listed above is quite a large figure. it takes alot more effort and control to stop a car or manoeuvre around a person so why do cars have to give way to pedestrians? is it in case they are visually impaired or deaf or some other reason?

How much should I pay my cousin to dogsit for me while I’m on vacation?

My cousin is disabled and she lives with her mother (at 24) so she always jumps at the opportunity to house sit for me (spending the night too) while I’m on vacation. She doesn’t work or go to school and will pretty much have it made when it comes to accomodations. All I need her to do is feed my dog a couple times a day and let him out about 4 times a day. How much should I pay her per day? How much should I pay her for food or groceries while I am away?

Should I fight a ticket for allegedly parking in a handicap spot ?

Along this street every parking space was marked with white lines, the last one had the wheelchair symbol painted on the ground inside the white lines, it also had a sign on each side (front and rear) stating it is a handicap spot. So I parked in the spot just behind it after making sure there was Not a wheelchair symbol painted inside that spot, nonetheless I got a ticket. P.S. This happened last weekend while vacationing in woodruff, wi – and even some of the locals told me I wasn’t parked illegally. Dirty cops maybe? Trying to steal from the tourists? What would you do?

What should i bring on my vavaction?

im going to NC and FL over the Summer and i want advice or some things on what to bring or to do either after or before my vacation. I want to be organized and my stuff seperate from my family’s because then it can be a huge mess when we mix things up. What should my family bring any devices. i have a baby brother, a handicapped older brothers..

have you seen these DVDs if you have which is better if you haven’t look at the matches and tell me which one you like better and why?

Should I go on vacation or not? Never been on one before- scared of 9-11 and finances..?

I am a 30 year old female. I live with my disabled mother and grandmother. I help them daily – both financially and with chores. I also, work for a hospital as a teacher. I have only been on vacation once in my life and that was at age 9 to Maine. I know this is pathetic but I have only left my home state a handful of times…

I took this week off for vacation and I really want to go somewhere now that my brother is here to care for my mother and grandmother. I can fly out to San Fran for two days for $480. I really want to do this but am afraid of flying (never been on a plane before) and the fact that it’s so close to 9/11. I would leave on the 9th and come back on the 12th.

My finances aren’t great. I have $2000. in savings and $3500. in credit (which I would use for the airline ticket I make $551. bi-weekly (after bills). I’m afraid if I get myself into debt and something happens to my Grandmother and I am forced to move, I will be stuck in a bad situation. With airfare, hotel and parking this trip will cost me $700. for essentially just Friday and Saturday (Thurs and Sun I will be traveling). Is this wise? Or should I do something closer to home?

Should I go? Anyone else afraid of flying near 9/11?
