Taking a break in New Zealand, is something that lots of folk dream of, but few get the chance to do!

New Zealand is a place that lots would like to see, but tends to be put on the wishlist behind bigger destinations like Europe. So unless you are really seasoned as a traveler or have a specific reason, you might leap frog this beautiful country by!

New Zealand is located in the western side of Australia, between the Cook Islands and Antarctica. It is a lonely place, and for millions of years has been down here, earning NZ its own and very distinct and beautiful flora and fauna as well as geographical attributes.

Of the places to be sure to visit, there are some standouts, however this article focuses on staying in beautiful Nelson, at the top of the South Island.

Nelson throws up so many vast attractions, however, each good holiday starts with a place to stay. Within the city area itself, are several smaller places that are ideal bases at base a stay at.

Kicking off with the city of Nelson itself, a tidy little town that offers much and has a peaceful feeling to it. This stunner has the most services, and offers a sparkling waterfront to dine or party on. Try here for some nelson accommocation options.

Next is Tahuna, approx 10 minutes from Nelson. Tahunanui or Tahuna for short, is a fab place to stay, either in the many motels or at the camp ground, with the lovely swimming beach just opposite.

For those who wish to expand their accommodation in nelson experience, and stay further afield, Golden Bay offers many options. This is where you can choose from options like boutique homestays, right through to the traditional kiwi bach. A Bach is better known as a holiday home, and the owners lets these out for a fee. Usually very small on price!

What ever you decide to do, be sure to book well in advance of the 2011 Rugby World Cup dates, as the nelson motel market is set to be booked out very early!
