Mario Laguna-Guerrero had been dating his 17-year-old girlfriend for two years and even lived with her and her mother before he made a decision that would change their relationship forever.Laguna, struggling to repay a debt to smugglers who brought him into the country from Mexico, decided to become a pimp — driving his girlfriend to migrant labor camps in Hillsborough County, Florida, and selling her for sex.
Over four months in late 2009, as many as 80 men slept with the teenage girl while Laguna pocketed $25 a head. He later pressured his girlfriend to recruit high school classmates to work as prostitutes too.
Law enforcement agents arrested Laguna in April and charged him with sex trafficking of a minor, a federal crime.

According to the affidavit, Laguna, 25, said his girlfriend, who’s a U.S. citizen, agreed to help him pay off his debt by having sex for cash. But the girl, who has a mental disability and is only identified as “Victim #1,” told detectives separately, “I don’t wanna do this.”
Investigators determined Victim #1 has an IQ of 58, which psychologists described to ABC News as “low-functioning,” adding that she would have difficulties making decisions on her own.
“This girl was rescued from a nightmare which could only have gotten worse,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee. As national debate rages over ties between illegal immigration and crime, the Laguna-Guerrero case depicts a disturbing trend in human sex trafficking and, some immigration critics say, a consequence of the U.S. failure to secure its borders.
“This is a heinous crime, there are real victims left in its wake, and it’s all unnecessary,” said Ira Mehlman of the Federation of Americans for Immigration Reform. “It could have been prevented if he weren’t here illegally… Legal immigrants go through a vetting process that’s designed to weed out criminals.”
Laguna, who worked as a strawberry picker on a farm near Tampa, first arrived in the U.S. in 2002. He told investigators the smugglers who brought him into the country threatened to cut off his fingers if he did not soon pay his $2,000 debt.

I’m helping run a day camp and in my group, I have two mentally disabled girls (not sure what condition they have) and they cling to me, making it very hard to lead games and interact with the other girls because they “need” me to be sitting with them, etc. The others girls won’t interact because it is really hard to understand what they say (I can understand reasonably well). The actual leader is no help and doesn’t really interact or lead (which is how most of the leaders are). What can I do to keep the disabled girls happy but off of me, so I can interact with the others?

I am a care taker for a mentally handicapped adult… a gentleman came to the door of the homeowner (her parents) and asked if one of her parents were home…she told them no because they are on vacation in another state. He asked if she was his Daughter and she said yes and closed teh door cause she got scared. She is 32 years old and declared mentally incompetent by the state. When she came and told me about it i went to the door and found the papers stuck in the door. Is this legal to do? She cannot legally accept anything being mentally handicapped. Should i return the summons to the court and tell them they need to try again when the homeowner returns from vacation? what can i do Im not able to be responsible for the summons myself as i am just a care taker. and she is mentally ill….what should we do and is it even legal to just stick a paper in the door?
the homeowner will not be back until christmas time…the paperwork says he is due in court 11/22/2010
Arizona law (where we live) also says the person must be a competant responsible adult who is mentally competent to give the papers to the correct people…she is not mentally competant and nobody even knows im here…i dont want the homeowner to get introuble….like i said they are gone until december and the summons is for november

I went to camp with her for a week and her parents gave out an open invitation to her bday party (which only 2/18kids were willing to go).
Any ideas?

Why is a person who has schizoaffective disorder Bipolar type I considered to be mentally disabled? I always thought being mentally disabled means that the person can’t be independent but I think I can if I can get 30% assistance.
I have this mental illness but I am stable with medications. My counselor told me I can’t work because stress makes my illness worse.
Does this mean I have to depend on social security disability for the rest of my life?
I always thought I would be able to live in a big house and have a nice car and take vacations around the world once a year.

For those who believe in reincarnation, they say that after a long series of incarnating into various body forms, a soul enters a human body and finally has a chance to work out his karmic reactions because he has already acquired a consciousness that lower forms of creations does not have. if you were born mentally handicapped, are you still creating good and bad karma or are you in some kind of a vacation from karmic reactions??
question is for those WHO BELIEVE in reincarnation please. thank you =)
