New York Hotel Deals

Omni Berkshire Luxury Hotel in Manhattan is a fabulous 4 star hotel. It is a great choice for those on business and for tourists who would like to stay in luxury on their visit to the biggest and best city in the United States.

This hotel has all of the features that you would expect from a luxury hotel in Manhattan. What follows is a shortlist:

1. Currency Exchange.
2. Room Service.
3. AC.
4. In Room Movies.
5. High-speed Internet.
6. Lounge.
7. Conference Room.
8. Security Guard.
9. Restaurant.
10. Tour Desk.

The building itself is quite beautiful especially at night with all of the lights on. And the rooms are luxuriously decorated. But what is really great about this hotel in my opinion is not what it looks like inside or out but where it’s located. After all; I hope you’re not planning on spending your trip to NYC inside your hotel!

The hotel is located on East 52nd Street between 5th Ave. and Madison Ave. and that means it’s near many interesting things. What follows is a shortlist of what is within a short walk of this hotel:

1. St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
2. Rockefeller Center.
3. Museum of Arts & Design.
4. The Museum of Modern Art.
5. Metro Stations.

As you have probably already guessed a 4 star hotel in such a great location in Midtown Manhattan is not inexpensive. As of right now the least expensive reservation I can find on the New York Hotel Deals website is $505/night. Room rates do vary depending on season and day (Friday & Saturday nights are usually more expensive) but you are unlikely to find a hotel of this caliber for a discount price in New York. In this very costly city even the two star hotels are over $250/night.

For people who plan on taking part in many touristy things, the New York Pass is a great way to save money. It allows you to take part in over 60 tourist activities for one price. It can also save you time because it gives you line jumping privileges as well.

Cardiff is the capital of Wales in the UK. In past times, this side of United Kingdom had been covered with pirates, and the populace seemed to have no hopes of recovering as a community. But after the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, Cardiff was one of the biggest beneficiaries.

A Travel Guide – Amsterdam

Posted: July 14th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Destination Guides | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

I went to Amsterdam with one of my collegue named, Sian. Sian and I were friends from many years and we have many common leisure pursuits; like – water games, tennis, gardening and travel. I always wanted to visit Amsterdam, as I have heard so much about the city, its canals, museums and nightlife but due to my busy life I couldn’t visit Amsterdam and when Sian suggested Amsterdam, I just said yes!

I always plan my trip well ahead and try to book my flights and hotel tickets at least one month ahead, to avoid any disappointments. I always do research on all the major hotel booking websites to get the best deal possible and I would recommend all the travellers to always do a through research about flights, hotels and top attractions before making their journey.

Like other travellers I don’t enjoy running from one location to another because if you plan too many tourist destinations in one day then you won’t be able to enjoy the place or won’t get enough time to relax. For me breaks means relaxing and enjoying. I always spent my time by exploring local markets, local cuisines, culture and interacting with local people.

Our plane landed in Amsterdam Schiphol airport at 6PM and from there we took train to central station as it is the most easy and fastest way to reach city centre. Train service is after every 10 minutes and it just takes around 15-20 minutes to reach Amsterdam central station. One way journey costs ¬3.50 which you can obtain either from the self service ticket machine or from ticket counters. I bought my tickets from ticket counter as I am not very good with machines. Our train journey was comfortable and quick. Our hotel was just 7-8 minutes walk from the central station so instead of taking cab we walked to our hotel and reached their by 7:30pm.

Our hotel near close to the river Amstel and my room was on the 7th floor. The view from my window was amazing; I could see the entire city glittering with lights and tiny boats were passing through the river. I would have spend hours in that room but as we didn’t have any food for quite some time so we went to a small Mexican restaurant to have food. The food was good and the waiters out there were very friendly.

Next day we took the canal cruise to travel around the city as it is a must thing to do if you are in the town. We bought Hop on Hop off day pass for ¬22. If you buy this ticket then you can take any canal bus any time and as Amsterdam is full of canals so you can go anywhere in the city. We visited Van Gogh museum, Anna Frank House and 9 streets. I did some shopping and had chips with mayonnaise for lunch, I know it’s not healthy but once in a while it’s ok.

Amsterdam is one of the most happening places for clubbing. There are number of nightclubs to suit different tastes and people. I and Sian went out to explore the much talked about night life in Amsterdam. We went to Chemistry’ night club which is the most famous nightclub in Amsterdam, so be prepared for huge queues.

Contrary to popular belief Amsterdam is a safe city for women of all ages. I and Sian reached our hotel at 2:00 AM using public transport and we didn’t face any problem. Travelling in Amsterdam at night is fairly safe but avoid going to red light district at night.

I would like to suggest few things that you should keep in mind while travelling in Amsterdam.

Beware of pick pockets

Do not buy drugs

Avoid using cycle lanes

Do not travel by car inside the city as parking fee is very high

Do not smoke in train stations

¢ Always travel with valid tickets

Always avoid taking photos in the red light district

Amsterdam is a beautiful city and Dutch people are very social and they speak fairly good English so communicating with locals is not a problem. In Amsterdam you can find a large number of hotels for suit your budget. You don’t need to spend a fortune to travel to Amsterdam. Museum entry fee is pricy so if you are not a big fan of visiting museums you can avoid them but I would advice that you should at least visit 2-3 museums as they are worth it.

Four Seasons Hotel Near Central Park

Posted: June 30th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Destination Guides | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

New York Hotel Deals

The Four Seasons on East 57th between Madison and Park Avenues is certainly the most luxurious hotels in NYC which quite obviously also means that it is quite expensive. If you are not wealthy then you’re unlikely to want to spend the kind of money it costs to reserve a room at this hotel or at any other luxury hotel in NYC for that matter.

As of this writing the average guest review for the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City is a perfect five stars which equals the official five star rating that the hotel has.

Just one Saturday night at this hotel this month would run you at least $750/room. And for the most expensive one bedroom suite you would have to pay an astonishing $5000. That is not a typo! If you want to spend $5000 in New York in a single night, just reserve yourself a suite at Manhattan’s Four Seasons Hotel!

Of course for that kind of money you will be buying yourself a top of the line place to spend your time in New York. A sauna, a jacuzzi, a gym, all day room service, quality laundry service, fast internet service, valet parking, and a 24 hour security guard are all a part of the deal.

No matter how nice your hotel is, the most important part of a hotel in Manhattan is its location and the Four Seasons is perfectly situated close to Central Park and quite a few other great tourist attractions such as Barneys New York, MoMA, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and shopping on 5th Avenue.

Personally I wouldn’t waste this much money on a hotel unless I was ridiculously rich. There are plenty of decent discount hotel reservation options in New York City that also have good locations. But you should be aware that words like “discount” and “budget” mean something different in NYC than it does in other parts of the United States.
