Picnic Blankets Or Picnic Tables – Which One Is The Best?

When it comes to Summer we all think about going on day trips and sometimes taking a picnic with us. When you go on a picnic, there are lots of decisions that you need to make. You can choose whether to have a large picnic inviting friends and families, or a nice cosy small picnic with your partner or including all your immediate family. You will then have a number of people that need to be seated for the picnic.

You then have to decide if it would be better to take picnic blankets or if you would be better seated at picnic tables. Maybe you are unsure on what would be the best option so here is what you should think about.

When you arrange your next picnic, it is best to consider what type of seating arrangements would work for you and your guests. There are many factors that you need to think about. You will be planning in advance how many guests you want to invite. Picnic tables come in all shapes and sizes, but are usually designed to seat about four or eight people comfortably. If your picnic party is going to be quite large, there may not be enough room to seat all your guests at a table. You then have to decide if you want to buy another picnic table, or you ask your guests to bring some extra garden chairs. In addition to tables, you could use some picnic baskets for the extra guests.

Picnic blankets are very useful for all types of picnics, as long as the weather holds out and the ground is dry enough. You may find it easier to use picnic blankets, especially if you are travelling to a location, and they don’t take up much room in your car. Couples like to use blankets so they sit together which creates a romantic setting for a picnic. They are nice and soft to sit on and you can lay them out anywhere. Picnic blankets are a great alternative to using a picnic table, as you don’t always have to purchase one; an old blanket and bedsheet works just as well without the need to purchase a new one.

It is quite traditional to use a picnic blanket, though they do not suit everyone. Some people are afraid of “creepy-crawlies” (insects) so they do not like to sit on the ground, even it is on a blanket. If some of your guests are overweight, disabled or elderly, it is more comfortable for them to sit at a table to eat. A picnic table is a good investment to buy for use in your garden at home. When the weather is nice you can sit outside and enjoy a meal, a picnic or a barbecue with your family, and for when you have a party.

If you’re going to use picnic blankets, as mentioned before, you can buy them at sales, or if you scout around at home you can find something suitable and small enough to lay on the ground. If you plan to buy one or more picnic tables you can go to your local garden supplies and home stores which sell outdoor equipment as well as indoors. They usually stock the largest selections, with displays so you see them in all their glory. It is always nice to sit and try them out for comfort and versatility. For extra tables, you can buy the foldaway type which can be stored away when not in use.

Christian Camps – Some Of The Best Experiences You Can Have

Posted: May 17th, 2010 | Author: admin | Filed under: Camping | Tags: , , , , | 1 Comment »

The Midwest has literally hundreds of exceptional Christian Camps.  In Ohio, alone, there are 43 Christian Camp and Conference Association member camps.  Many have served generations of families in healthy, fun, and deeply personal ways.

There are a variety of programs, formats, and types of groups that Christian Camps serve.  There are Family Camps, Day Camps, Kids Camps, Group Camps, and Resident Camps.  There are also camps specifically for athletes, those with disabilities, single parents, musicians, and other groups.

And Christian Camps will offer programs centered around activities, too.  Some of these include programs in Art, Sports, Whitewater Rafting, Music, Drama, and Writing.  These are especially good, because enthusiasts can spend a week receiving instruction and practicing their skills, and they can also meet others who share the same passion and interests.

Ohio also has some excellent Outdoor Education programs with eight CCCA member camps offering these kinds of experiences.  Christian Camp Outdoor Education curriculum options include Animal Studies, Exploratory Science, Plant and Earth Studies, Wilderness Survival Training, and other specialized training.  These programs use college prepared staff members with many being certified in the areas they teach.

Most Christian camps have their own websites which makes searching program options and registration really easy.  Christian camp websites will include events calendars, program descriptions, age or other restrictions or groupings, the camp’s philosophy and faith statement, and costs and special instructions for campers.  Lodge and cabin rentals, group rates, holiday weekends or discounts, and other specials can also be found on camp websites, so if you want to plan your own group retreat or special get-away weekend, Christian camps are the way to go.

What makes Christian Camps unique, and very special, is their commitment to providing youth, adults, families and groups opportunities to unplug from the distractions of life, re-focus on what really matters, relax, grow from God’s Word, and build great relationships.  And these special experiences all take place in beautiful settings where campers can revel in God’s amazing creation.

So, as Spring approaches, make plans with friends, or your Church, or with your family to spend a really special week at a Christian Camp.  Do a few web searches around the type of program you are looking for, the denomination you may prefer, or the location you hope to visit.  You can also visit the directory of Ohio Christian Camps, which allows the user to search for camps in a variety of ways.
