Travel Mobility Aids For Mildly Disabled
Posted: October 6th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Disability Aid Reviews | Tags: mobility, travel aid | 7 Comments »The type of mobility assistance you may need will depend upon your limitations. Those that we describe on this page are suitable for mildly limiting disabilities such as mild arthritis or early stage lung disease (COPD, emphysema, asthma, chronic bronchitis). People who are able to walk with some of the weight shifted to their arms or who may need periodic rest may find these devices useful.
The Market Mate is available from Active and Able. It is a combination walker (sometimes called a rollator), resting seat and carrying basket. Suitable for sidewalks and stores, but it is not suitable for rougher terrain.
At the time of this writing, the price is approximately $190 (U.S.).

The Shopping Cart With Fold Down Seat is also available from Active and Able. It is an alternative to the Market Mate for those who do not need a walker function but who need to rest occasionally during a shopping trip.
At the time of this writing the approximate price is only $50, so it is much less expensive, although less useful, depending upon the extent of you mobility.

The Walking Friend Staff is much more than a cane. It is designed to provide the support that you need while providing less stress on your arm. It is useful for those who can be mobile by taking a little weight off a leg or who might need a little assistance with balance. It is available from First Street.
At the time of this writing the approximate price is $80.
