How has he/she helped you the most? What are things that the dog does that helps you out the most? What kind of harness do you use?
I have degenerative joint disease of the subtalar joint. It’s not the primary reason I use a service dog, because I also have a traumatic brain injury.
I don’t recommend using a service dog in place of a cane. It’s very hard on their bodies and they wind up with arthritis themselves. However, my dog does help me get back on my feet when I’ve fallen.
For arthritis of the spine, I think a dog that retrieves items from the floor and hands them to you would be a great help. A trained dog could also help with undressing by pulling off socks and other garments without you having to bend so much.
