First on your surfing holiday itinerary should be the amazing Cocoa Beach in Florida. You have to time you visit correctly, but if you do you can enjoy some spectacular surf. Go during summer and you might get some excellent waves but you also quite likely to be sitting on your board, bobbing up and down and wondering where all the swell went. Visit in winter however and it will be a different story. The conditions in the winter months are so much more reliable and will easily provide you with some 10ft dream waves. The surf is some of the safest around and the area has a great party vibe going on. This makes it very popular with beginner surfers and people after a but of fun. For the top conditions, pay a visit between November and March

Secondly, why not go back to where it all began. There is a reason why Hawaii is synonymous with surfing – it provides many of the best surfing locations on the planet and some of the biggest waves ever have been recorded here. It’s so steeped in surfing history that you could easily spend your whole time on your Hawaii holidays, cycling around on the traditional second hand bikes, visiting historic sites, talking to locals about the good old days when surfboards were made out of wood, or checking out the thousands of surfboards on sale. Well, perhaps not the whole time, some must be saved to witness the 20ft beasts in Oahu, and the luxurious sands and swells at Ehukai Beach and Waimea Beach. Pure Heaven

Last but not certainly not least, no American surf holiday would be complete without experiencing the “surf city” of the USA, Huntington, which funnily enough is also known for the snowboards they produce. The sun never goes down on this area and its attracts top surfers like bees to honey. Some of the biggest names in surfing spend a lot of their year here and its no surprise there are surf comps going on all the time.It does have a tendency to get a little cramped here though, 11 million people come each year. So if crowds aren’t you thing, you’re better of enjoying the equally as good winter waves.
