Fancy a bit of Winter sun? Well put away the gloves and ditch the coat, because it’s time to book your winter sun break! You can enjoy sun all year round in Cyprus, Malta and Corfu, and best of all, off peak flights are easy to come by during the winter. Now’s the time to schedule in some quality sunshine.
Cyprus is known for its mild winters and long, dry and hot summers. Its rainy season doesn’t kick in until December, so it’s ideal for people in need of a getaway pre-Christmas. Akrotiri and Dhekelia are small portions of the island that are allocated, by treaty, to the UK as sovereign military bases. As a result, the island is very Brit-friendly.
Whatever your budget or tastes, there Cyprus hotels out there for you. The Hilltop Garden Hotel in Paphos caters to both types. It provides peaceful, relaxing accommodation, is close to a beach, is near to shop and bars and isn’t far from the World Heritage Site – the Tombs of the Kings. The perfect balance!
In Malta, you’re guaranteed an average of five hours of sunshine a day in December (to above 12 hours in July), with its summer holiday season ending in November, (although November-March temperatures can still reach 20ºC). There has never even been snow in the capital of Veletta! There are plenty of Malta hotels to choose from, but a real stand out is the 5 star Phoenicia Hotel.
You can expect the same levels of heat in Corfu this October as you would in May. If you’re young and looking to party in Kavos, the Lefkimi Hotel is one of the best Corfu hotels around. The Michelangelo Village on the other hand, offers families and couples furnished apartments and studios within the fishing village of Kassiopi.
And you’re sure to be the envy of everyone when you return with your winter tan!
