In my capacity as the United Kingdom Operations Director for One World Tours Limited, over time, it came to my attention as to what a minefield in can be booking a vacation in a destination like Egypt thru the myriad of’internet’ based travel firms ; particularly local Egyptian corporations

I so though it could be useful to suggest a type of’checklist’ of things to search for and questions to ask’prospective’ vacation providers. 

one.  Are they a travel agent or a Tour operator ? 

particularly at a local level, service from a tour operator is sometimes higher than that of an agent as tour scheduled through local agents’can’ risk the incontrovertible fact that the agent is only passing on your booking to a third party.  This is not always the case, but it is’s something to think about.  Comeback if you have Problems is also to be considered as an agent can blame the third party and vice versa. 

two.  Do they need a deposit or are they offering payment in full on arrival ? 

If the company you are most likely booking thru accept payment in full on arrival, it means one thing – your are not booked.  While will a company risk booking hotels, tour guides, drivers etc on the of chance you may essentially turn up ? 

three.  Do they accept credit cards as payment ? 

This is critical whether or not you are counting on paying that way.  Accepting credit cards ( particularly in travel fields ) will generally mean the Corporation has been pretty well vetted and definitely will offer you some added assurances ( and of course protection )

four.  Do they offer Testimonials…  ? 

The second half this question maybe the most important part,’Do they offer Testimonials…and can you contact them’ ?  If their testimonials are real then surely there is no reason why they can not be contacted. 

five.  Do they have a recognised complaints procedure ? 

Any forward thinking and truthful company will know that there’ll always be the strange problem.  Having a dispute procedure in place shows that the company will not just try and fob you off, but from the bottom up, they’ll try to reasonably look after any problems you may have.

After 6 perfect months in Australia, I got back home… and started missing it right away! I had so much fun! Beautiful sights, charming beaches and the nicest people ever… what more can you desire? For those of you who are interested, check out these important tips:

2. Customs: Fresh food and agricultural products do not cross the border, not to mention pets. You see, Australia is divided from the rest of the world, so introducing our agricultural diseases into its eco system can unbalance it altogether. 3. Weather: One of the shocks you get upon arriving in Australia is the weather. When I arrived, spring was in the air. It was October. Well, obviously, Australia is located in the southern hemisphere (below the equator), so the seasons are different. So remember to pack suitable clothes!

4. Traffic: Australian traffic is directed to the left rather than the right side of the road. For someone coming from the US this can be somewhat confusing. If you plan to drive while in Australia, take it into account. Of course you must always drive carefully, but in Australia more so. The weirdest part was when I got back home, and had to get used to driving on the right side of the road…

5. Hitchhiking is illegal!|Hitchhiking is not recommended. I didn’t have to do it (like I mentioned I had a car), but I saw the signs saying that hitchhilking is illegal and warning drivers not to pick up hitchhikers. I met a few guys who told me it was the best way to travel, but I preferred to keep safe.

6. Work and travel: Ausralia is not the most expensive place in the world, but it’s no India. Working while you travel can fix you up with some extra cash. I worked for a few weeks in Sydney, and it sure paid off. Plus it was an interesting experience. I got some valuable info from this site: work and travel Australia.

7. Studying in Australia: I met a girl who was getting her business degree in Australia. It sounded pretty cool: you get to be in Australia and get education at the same time. If you’re interested, check this out: student visa Australia.

8. International Students card: Read carefully, you get to learn from my mistakes. Although I am entitled to one, I didn’t issue an international student card. If I had one, I would have got discounts in restaurants, museums and hotels. If you’re a student — get one!|So if you can get one – do it!

9. Don’t miss Tasmania: You hear much talk about Sydney, hiking to the Urulu and diving in the Great Barrier Reef. But for me, Tasmania was the highlight of the trip. The place is a bit less traveled and full of wonders. The Bay of Fires was particularly beautiful. I heartily recommend visiting Tasmania.
